Be nice to each other

These rules apply to everyone, so they must be followed at all times. Failure to follow these rules will result in various consequences, stated below.

General Wiki Guidelines

  • This wiki is for users who are over the age of 16 globally. Those who are caught being underage will be banned until they are of age.
  • No fanfictions, fanmade pairings, or fan characters on official articles. Fan characters, fanmade pairings, and fanfiction are only allowed to be posted on your blog, on your page, or in the forums. Creating new articles about the aforementioned subjects is prohibited as articles are to be utilized for official content only. Keep it canon.
  • Spam is prohibited everywhere on the wiki.
  • Fanart is permitted but it is prohibited to post them on the pages about the episodes or the characters. Please ensure that your work does not contain borderline pornography, sexualized nudity, or prominent fetishistic content. Due to the nature of the series, artwork depicting gore is permitted.
  • When editing an article (such as an article on a character), it is prohibited to utilize fanmade names such as "Paige" or "Manny." Please ensure a name has been confirmed in the show or by the official Don't Hug Me I'm Scared crew before utilizing it in official articles.
  • Vandalism is not to be tolerated. This includes adding gibberish, nonsense, and blanking pages or sections. Vandals' edit(s) will be swiftly undone and will be blocked.
  • If you are intending post theories, please post them in your blogs, your message wall, or create a new forum thread about them instead of creating new articles about them. As aforementioned, articles are for official content only, and theories are obviously fan-made and usually act as canonical fact without direct confirmation. Theories may only be added to pages if they are phrased as being mere speculations without mentioning that it's a theory (e.g.: The trivia section in Duck's page that speculates as to the reason he possesses glasses despite never being seen wearing them). Articles created to solely discuss or display theories are disallowed from the wiki (e.g.: an entire article which only exists to share the Age Theory and which contents only discuss this). Otherwise, please do not add information to the wiki if it has not been properly cited, screenshotted, or archived, or portrayed in an episode.
  • If you require assistance with any Don't Hug Me I'm Scared Wiki matters, please report to RobSoul, Colin or any other available admin on their message walls by creating a new thread (where it states "Write a message to [username]"). Other contact avenues include the wiki's Discord server and Discuss (by pinging the admins). They will strive to provide assistance whenever possible.
  • Swearing, in general, is permitted. However, swears directed at others, such as "Go fuck yourself, you bastard!", is clearly meant to insult, and therefore are not allowed in such manners.
    • Playful insults are permitted, as long as the user the language is directed at knows about the playful intentions. It is recommended you utilize tone tags such as "/lh", "/s", "/jk", and related if this is the case.
    • Please do not utilize other rude language such as "shut up" in a serious manner. It is recommended that if you're being playful to utilize tone tags or other signifiers to indicate this.
    • Please do not utilize racial or ethnic slurs, LGBT-related slurs, overtly ableist slurs such as "retard", "spastic"/"spaz", "midget", or "cripple" (or utilization of clinical disorders or conditions as an insult), etc. in any context. If it is a direct quote of a phrase, the word must be censored. This also applies to those who are apart of the group the slur is directed toward and different variations/spellings (e.g.: fucktard, n*gga).
    • In reference to certain concepts or character descriptions (in comments or other discussions), words such as "dumb"/"stupid"/"moronic"/"imbecilic," "crazy"/"insane"/"mad"/"loony"/"batty"/"deranged"/"delusional," and (as long as it is solely utilized to refer to personality traits) "freak"/"freakish"/"freaky" are permitted to be utilized. Words such as "psycho"/"psychotic" and "demented," however, must only be utilized in a clinical sense or as a direct quote.
  • All users are expected to be respectful of one another. This indicates that in chat, on articles, in edit summaries, in forums, in comments, and on talk pages, you, the user, are expected to treat every user with respect, regardless of your personal feelings towards them. Hate speech (one that attacks a person and/or group based on their race, religious beliefs, sex/gender, disability/disorder/condition, or sexual/romantic orientation) is also not tolerated, and if one persists such behavior after warnings, will result in a block from the wiki and/or ban from the chatroom.
  • Comments, Discuss posts, and talk posts are expected to be appropriate. No inflammatory, irrelevant, or insulting posts are allowed.
  • Insulting or harassing other users is never permitted. This includes general statements about groups of people. Insulting or harassing others will lead to swift and severe blocks. This includes the chat.

Blockage or Banning

  • If you have been banned or blocked here, you may appeal it utilizing your own or an admin's message wall or talk page. If you are unable to do so, you may contact any admin utilizing their wall on Community Central Wiki or their personal wiki (e.g.: Rob's Robinik Grimmgall Wiki).
  • If you are blocked or banned here, it is NOT appropriate to follow any admin to another wiki to complain unless otherwise stated. This will result in an extension of the block or ban here, and likely a block on the wiki in question.
  • If you are blocked on another wiki, it is NOT appropriate to follow an admin here to complain unless otherwise stated.

Your Message Wall

  • Please do not remove, or otherwise attempt to obscure, anything that others post on your message wall. Exceptions to this are vandalism, harassment, defamation, private matters and personal information (to an admin's discretion), or any message that violates the policies. In any of these cases, you may either remove the message yourself or request that an admin to remove it for you.

Inciting Arguments

With An Admin

  • If you attempt to insult a sysop after being requested to cease certain behaviors, you may be banned from the wiki, or if you are already banned, your ban will be extended. Please attempt to handle things in a civil, and mature manner, regardless of if the argument is with a sysop, or a regular user, in order to receive positive results in what you're attempting to accomplish. Constructive criticism against an admin is permitted, but it must be constructive in nature, not destructive. More information about this may be read here.
  • An admin is permitted to block you from the wiki if you have engaged with them in personal and unresolved disturbances and the admin believes that you will not utilize this wiki in good faith or without bringing up personal affairs.

With A User

  • If an argument occurs, and an admin is required to become involved, the assigned admin(s) will not display favoritism, or otherwise "choose sides", without hearing both complete sides of the story. If it results in one user being more virtuous than the other(s), the user(s) who are deemed felonious will suffer consequences as severe as the offense was, no more or no less. If both, or all of the users participating in the argument are equally illicit, both/all of the users will be punished.

Manual of Style

  • Articles must be written in the NPOV (neutral point of view) format as adopted by Wikipedia. Only objective facts about a subject must be stated, and sentences should not be read as containing bias by the author. Read this article for more information.
    • Articles should attempt to refrain from utilizing "we"/"us"/"our" language in a meta sense and instead remain as neutral as possible when it concerns meta references. (e.g.: "All that is known" vs "All we know.")
    • The language utilized on official articles should be as formal as possible.
  • All articles must contain information that is simply observable within an episode, interview, or statement from the official Don't Hug Me I'm Scared crew. All information that is not observed in an episode must contain a link to the website or post where the information has been provided. This includes unconfirmed genders, pronouns, and names. Information must not originate from the editor's own personal perspective or other fan-based interpretations as this is a wiki for official content only. Any attempt to force an unofficial viewpoint into an article will not be tolerated and will be dealt with appropriately. See more information here.
  • All spellings and language utilized outside of direct quotes on this wiki must be in American English.
  • Newly created articles must follow this structure: They must have a detailed description of the article's subject (2+ long, descriptive sentences (e.g.: "Duck is the tritagonist of Don't Hug Me I'm Scared alongside Yellow Guy and Red Guy. He is an anthropomorphic duck puppet with a lightly autotuned voice provided by Baker Terry."), 1 article section (e.g.: Appearance, Personality, Role in the series, Trivia, etc.), an infobox, and, optionally, an image), no meta references (i.e.: referring to the wiki or its readers/contributors, including "What else do you want?" or other taunting phrases), and must utilize understandable grammar in order to qualify as a stub. Articles that are considered too short to be considered a stub will be deleted on sight. Continuation of the creation of non-qualifying articles may result in a ban from the wiki depending on the amount of times this has occurred.

Sockpuppetting

  • Sockpuppetting is the creation and/or utilize of an additional account to circumvent a block or chat ban. Sockpuppeting is not permitted on this wiki. The second account will be blocked infinitely, and the original account's block or ban will be extended at moderator discretion.
  • You may, however, create another account for yourself if utilized for other purposes, such as losing your password on your original account, wishing for another username change, or simply wishing to begin anew. Another exception are approved and officiated bot accounts for the purposes of performing manual tasks. Usage of bot accounts for this Don't Hug Me I'm Scared Wiki must be approved by an admin before being utilized, unless you are an official FANDOM staff member or helper.

Discord Server Regulations

Spamming

  • Spamming is not permitted in the server unless posted in the #spam channel. Spam includes things like posting song lyrics line by line, ASCII art, abusing emoticons, and repeating the same string repeatedly.
  • Claiming your actions are not "spam" is not a defense against spamming, and will likely result in your banning, or your ban extended.

Advertising

  • Do not utilize the Don't Hug Me I'm Scared Wiki server to solicit edits or visits to other sites. This includes another wiki you may be involved with, or an outside chat or website. This does not indicate you can never link to these kinds of sites, only that it is inappropriate to repeatedly advertise other sites or to repeatedly request that people come to a wiki you are a part of, your chatroom, or your website/social media profile. This policy also applies to blog posts. The exception to this is if the advertisement(s) is(are) posted in the #advertisement channel on Discord.

Mini-modding

  • Please do not mini-mod. The phrase "mini-mod" can be described as acting as an administrator/moderator when you do not possess such a title. Examples of mini-modding include "No spamming allowed!" or "Don't talk about another show besides Don't Hug Me I'm Scared!". Please, retain it to the administrators/moderators to perform such tasks. It is their responsibility and obligation to protect the chat, after all. However, if all the administrators and moderators are busy or if they appear to not be watching chat, it is perfectly permissible to alert them when a felony is in action. If done however for the first time, you will receive a 3 day ban. If continued enough, you will be banned permanently.
